Boss's bid to lift pressure

DONCASTER Rovers boss Sean O'Driscoll will be looking to put an end to speculation about his future at the League One club in tomorrow's game against Swansea at the Liberty Stadium.

Even though the Board dismissed reports in midweek that O'Driscoll was set be axed following three successive defeats and replaced by former Shefield United boss Neil Warnock, the Doncaster manager knows that questions will continue to be asked until results improve.

Despite admitting that he was feeling under pressure following the team's poor start, O'Driscoll remains confident in his own ability and that of his players.

He said he didn't think that major surgery was required to turn things around and added that it was unlikely he would be adding to his squad before tonight's transfer deadline.

"When I look back on the opening games of the season there aren't that many things that I would actually have changed," he said. "In any case, you just can't change the way you play overnight.

"If we practice all week trying to be bright and move people and inter-change with one another, that is what you need to do on a Saturday.

"What we are trying to do worked extremely well in pre-season and in our first two games of the season.

"The players' attitude has always been first-class since I came here and they work extremely hard."

Replying to comments that the James Hayter-Paul Heffernan strike partnership had not made its expected impact, O'Driscoll said: "As a team, we haven't functioned properly in our last three games.

"Both players have worked extremely hard but when confidence is a bit low, and we revert to route-one football, then we are not going to play to the strengths of the two of them."

Questioned as to whether he was considering making changes to his attack. O'Driscoll said: "Mark McCam-mon has given us different options when he has come off the bench in a couple of the games.

"The question is can he start a game and have the same effect.

"We are aware that we have got options within the squad and we are looking to utilise everybody to give ourselves the best possible chance to go to Swansea tomorrow and pick up a result."

O'Driscoll admits that Rovers couldn't have had a much harder game in their bid to kick-start their season.
