Forest to edge it against Leeds in top game of weekend

THERE are one or two very tasty games that have been thrown up in this weekend's League One fixtures.

Two of my old teams; Leeds United, who I coached, are playing against another one of my former clubs in Nottingham Forest. I’ve had more clubs that Jack Nicklaus has had in his golf bag – but they were both Premiership coaching clubs.

Forest versus Leeds has got to be the top game of the weekend in League One. It’ll definitely be a sell-out, even though it is a 1pm kick-off.

Leeds have reacted well to their points reduction and are now on -9 after picking up six points from their two openng games.

Forest have had a jittery start but I have a sneaky feeling that Forest, who should have a fulll squad, will edge the game.

Huddersfield have started very well and won both of their opening games. This weekend they take on Carlisle at the Galpharm Stadium. Striker Luke Beckett has been on the score sheet twice in two games and is an experienced goalscorer who always comes up with the goods. I fancy Huddersfield to win.

Crewe against Leyton Orient will see Sean Thornton, JJ Melligan and Stuart Nelson – all former Rovers players – turning out for the O’s who are currently flying high at the top of the League. I’m sure, however, that they’ll get a nosebleed before long!

I fancy the game to end up as a draw, simply because of Dario Gradi. Despite being up in the stands now, he is still a massive influence for Crewe.

Luton and Gillingham could be a very interesting game, but I fancy Luton to come out on top. They are starting to put themselves into place to start playing some great football.

Interesting one with Oldham playing Bristol Rovers in terms of players coming in etc.

Oldham have just got Neil Kilkenny on loan and have just taken Lee Hughes on after his holiday at Her Majesty’s pleasure for the last few years. He may be playing – he may not – so watch this space. In any case, for me Oldham will come out on top.

Looking at the old white fox, Ronnie Moore, at Tranmere. He’s coming up with the results and they take on Brighton this weekend.

I expect Tranmere to come out with the win.

If you are looking for an away result then check out Yeovil against Northampton. Russell Slade always has his team playing really well away from home. He’ll get his team going and they could very well come out on top.

To finish off, it’s Doncaster Rovers against Bournemouth – the most important game for me.

We need to get three points at home now. We’ve played excellently against Millwall and were unlucky to only draw. The boys are up for it and it’s going to be a great weekend.

Sean’s old team will be coming back to try and haunt him, so that may add some mental pressure. But I feel that if we can play well we will pick up a very important home win.

I hope that you enjoy the weekend’s action in League One.
