More to come says Robins

MARK Robins says there is a lot more to come from his Rotherham United side.

The Millers manager says he felt there were encouraging signs through pre-season from his new-look squad and nothing he saw in the opener at Hereford discouraged him.

"On reflection, the draw on Saturday seems a better result than it did at the time," says Robins.

"We'd looked decent in pre-season and we'd seen improvement along the way. There were things to take from what I saw there.

"We took some of those things into Hereford but, all things considered, there is a lot more to come from us - I am convinced of that.

"Saturday was a starting point and it is up to us to keep that going and keep going forward.

"Players and partnerships are developing a decent understanding and that will get better. The players feel the same and feel there is more to come.

"We won't just judge ourselves on what happened on Saturday or how we played collectively or individually. We did all right but we will get better."

Robins said he looked forward to the prospect of "two tough games" this week.

"We've got the cup-tie with Sheffield Wednesday on Thursday and then we've got Peterborough here at Millmoor on Sunday - and they've got off to a real flier," said Robins.

"They are two great home games to get our season going down here."

Peterborough, promotion favourites, opened with a home win over Rochdale and then pulled off a shock Carling Cup win last night by beating Championship side Southampton 2-1 at London Road.

Robins checked them out in that game. "They did really well," he said.

Tickets continue to go well for the Owls cup-tie on Thursday (7.45). There is no pay on the day.

Kick-off time for the Peterborough game on Sunday is 2pm. It was moved back a day because of the Carling Cup tie.

Meanwhile, Rotherham have been drawn away to Mansfield Town in the first round of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy. It is likely to be played on Tuesday, September 4.

Barnsley boss Simon Davey has spoken of his frustration at the transfer signing he has not been allowed to play.

New keeper Heinz Muller was pencilled in to make his debut on Saturday, two days after agreeing a move from Lillestrom. Davey was still waiting today for permission for the German to play against Darlington in the Carling Cup tonight at Oakwell.

"He's signed a contract, we're obviously disappointed that he has not had his international clearance."
