Reds to make 12th signing

The 12th new signing of the summer will be a defender who is currently at another English club.

Kim Christensen, who joined Barnsley on Wednesday, will be a sub at Colchester this afternoon if the club have received international clearance from the FA.

Meanwhile Colchester moved to strengthen ahead of this afternoon’s Championship game. They signed Adam Virgo on a six-month loan deal from Celtic.

Virgo, aged 24, has been farmed out to the Champion-ship outfit following an unsuccessful spell at Parkhead.

He signed for 1.5million from Brighton in 2005 but failed to hold down a first-team place under Gordon Strachan.

He spent last season at Coventry on a season-long loan .
