O'Connell was absent from the Blades teamsheet against Leeds today, in a game that the Blades lost 1-0 after Patrick Bamford headed an 88th-minute winner.

That result extended United's run without a league goal to three games, and Wilder admitted: "It's a huge blow for us to lose Jack.

"And it's a huge blow for Jack more than anything. He had a great first season in the Premier League and worked incredibly hard, as we all have, to be here.

"For him to be out for potentially the season is a blow for us.

"A lot of things are going against us but we've got to roll our sleeves up, stick our chests out and get on with things.

"We've got to dig in and keep going."
