Here's how we rated the Blades' players on the night...
9. Sander Berge 9
Drove United forward in the first half more than any one else, with progressive passing that set the likes of McAtee and Ndiaye free in dangerous areas on the half-turn. Continued in a similar vein in the second half and so it was fitting that United's best player was the man who got the crucial breakthrough, getting up in support of Ndiaye and then tapping home between two defenders for the opening goal. 10. James McAtee 7
Felt he should have had a penalty in the second half when he went down under Wallace's challenge and replays backed up the fact that it fell firmly in the 'seen them given' category. Struggled to get into the game initially but once he got into it he showed some good moments and some frustrating ones as well, including shelling a cross into the Kop under little pressure. 11. Iliman Ndiaye 8
Had early appeals for a penalty rejected as he raced clear from McBurnie's flick on but lost his footing under pressure from Semi Ajayi. Wasn't having his best game with the ball but came alive in the key moment to seize on a poor backpass, send Ajayi to the shop with a quick chop and then show great composure and unselfishness to square for Berge to tap home the Blades' opener Photo: Darren Staples
12. Oli McBurnie 7
On a night when United could have won a few penalties, and certainly conceded one, he was another who felt hard done to after being barged over by Furlong almost on the goalline - but ref Whitestone was unmoved. Showed some good signs of link-up with Ndiaye, including an early flick to send him free but also showed his frustration at himself after overhitting a pass to McAtee later in the game. Made way for Sharp RESTRICTIONS: EDITORIAL USE ONLY No use with unauthorised audio, video, data, fixture lists, club/league logos or "live" services.
