The centre-half is a free agent after leaving the Danish Superliga side, and reports in Ghana suggest that the Blades are interested in bringing Mumin to Bramall Lane this summer.

But who is he? How did he end up in Denmark, and what would he bring to Bramall Lane?

Humble beginnings

Born in Ghana, Mumin's journey began when he joined the Right to Dream academy, which was founded by a British man Tom Vernon to give children from extreme poverty a chance to build a better life through football. The academy began with a small-scale training session on a dust pitch and now has a purpose-built facility. Mumin is one of over 20 graduates of the academy to play professional football in Europe.

European dream

In August 2016, after Vernon took over Nordsjælland, Mumin signed a professional deal with the Danish club. He was originally intended to join the U19 squad, yet made his Superliga debut just a few days after signing. In 2018, he was loaned out to Danish first division side HB Køge to aid his development. He has not yet been capped at any level by Ghana.

Mumin left Nordsjælland at the expiry of his four-year deal, and according to media reports in Ghana the Wild Tigers held "a small send off party for Mumin" and Kudus Mohammed, who has joined Ajax, at the end of their season. Vernon, a former Manchester United scout, has strong connections in England but clubs in Belgium, Portugal and Scotland are also thought to be monitoring Mumin.

What's he like?

The tall, 22-year-old is described as comfortable in possession and, according to data from WyScout, averages 63 passes per game - considerably more than any of United's current back three. Although the Danish Superliga is a different standard to the Premier League, Mumin's key stats stack up well against Chris Basham, John Egan and Jack O'Connell. It's thought that he would be a development signing for the Blades, if he does come to Bramall Lane - and could even be loaned out to Belgian club KFCO Beerschot Wilrijk, part-owned by Prince Abdullah.
