Jack Robinson has revealed he didn’t need persuading to join Sheffield United after making the switch from Nottingham Forest earlier this week.

The defender, who was out of contract at Forest in the summer, put pen to paper on a two-and-a-half year deal at Bramall Lane after United paid Forest an undisclosed fee to secure his early release from the City Ground.

“Coming here is an opportunity I’ve always wanted,” Robinson said. “Even before when the chance has been there. I told my agent and my family that this is the club to come to.

“Chris didn’t need to sell it to me; the lads have done that with how they’ve performed.

“I watched them in League One and then watched and played against them in the Championship. What they’ve done is brilliant, and the club as a whole sold itself to me.”

Wilder previously attempted to sign Robinson when he left QPR to join Forest and the move to United is the first January transfer of his career.

“There was a lot of waiting around!” he admitted, when asked what January is like for a player.

“It’s all new to me. I was excited as well as nervous because it is quite a big opportunity for me. I wanted to get it done and I’m more than happy it went through.

“When I was younger and inexperienced I didn’t know how to handle it but the experience of playing week in, week out in the Championship has given me the stepping stone to try and prove myself in the Premier League.

“I’ve put the hard work in and now this is my opportunity to try and prove myself again.”
