The Blades' owner went on record to say that United were targeting two loans in January, with one having the possibility of an option to buy.
But the window slammed shut on Monday without any incomings at Bramall Lane, meaning boss Chris Wilder will have to work with the injury-hit squad he has at his disposal as he looks to beat the odds and secure United's Premier League status.

'We will stick with him no matter what' - Prince Abdullah backs Chris Wilder as Sheffield United manager
"We had to look at our position in the table. If we brought in two or three loans and they didn't work out, it would add to the burden that we would have to manage next year.
"You have to look at our past record in loans, especially in January. The board made that decision.
"When the team is playing well, they don't need anyone. I don't think one player could have saved us. We have to save ourselves from within.

"I really believe in the team and in the players that we have. The odds are against us but if we perform as we have recently, we can pull it around.
"We love the team and the players and the city and we're going to be in it together, no matter what the league.
"If we are in the Championship I don't think we'll be long there, we have the chance to bounce straight back."

"I believe in him," he said of Wilder.
"If he wasn't the manager of the team I would hire him now and if the worst comes to the worst and we are relegated, I believe he is the manager to take us back quickly."
