It wasn’t as straightforward as it may have seemed when striker Daniel Jebbison put the Blades ahead early on, but United put pressure on the chasing pack with a Friday evening victory under the lights at Bramall Lane to lift spirits somewhat after the earlier news that the Blades had been placed under a transfer embargo.
Here’s how we rated the Blades’ players ...
5. John Egan 7
Did so well to get across and cut out the danger after a superb Hull cross from the right into a real danger area, after getting the better of Lowe and Robinson down that side. Photo: Danny Lawson
6. Jack Robinson 6
Involved in a comedy moment when he threw Connolly to the turf after a tangle and then amusingly complaining when ref Bond gave a free-kick against him. Absolutely cemented his man in a superb crunching tackle in the second half and was commanding in the air but also guilty of giving the ball away in dangerous areas Photo: Andrew Yates
7. Max Lowe 6
Got in a good position late on after being found by a great Osborn pass but took too long before picking out a teammate in the middle and the chance went begging as the ball went out of play. Was beaten a few times in the second half as Hull targeted that left flank Photo: Andrew Yates
8. Ollie Norwood 7
Used the ball well as ever and acquitted himself well against a tough opponent in Seri in the Hull midfield. Was on a booking for most of the game after seeling yellow for a late challenge on Connolly, which was probably fair enough - although the Hull man is probably still rolling about now Photo: Andrew Yates
