Sheffield United star reveals motivation of achieving 'greatest ever season' in the Blades' history

Speaking to BBC Radio 5Live, the midfielder insisted : "It's important (to focused), especially with the season we're having as a team and as a football club.

"We don't want to restart and be left miles behind (in terms of fitness) now, because we've put ourselves in a position where we could have the greatest ever season in Sheffield United's history; that's something we're keen to carry on when we do restart. Every time I'm running or on the bikes, that's the reason I'm doing it.

Norwood added: "At this moment in time football is irrelevant with this pandemic going on in the world. Obviously we'd love to be able to continue and finish this season off, but we're governed by the powers that be, and they decide what happens."

As things stand, all professional football is suspended until April 30th. This date is expected to be revised in the coming days, as the coronavirus pandemic continues to cause widespread disruption.

Recent reports suggest a plan could be in the works to finish the season in June/July, with all teams placed in quarantined areas and games played behind closed doors.

It is suggested that all 92 games could be televised, in what could prove to be a highly popular move with the fans and Government alike, as supporters will get their football fix from the isolated safety of their homes.
