It’s pretty well recognised that they won’t be shopping in the same market they have in recent seasons and that much of their business will be based around frees and loans.
Let’s take a look at 10 of the realistic options available to them for absolutely zip.
9. Connor Ogilvie - Gillingham
He's left Gillingham having played 51 times last season. A dependable left-back who can fill in at centre-half, he earned England youth caps at under-16 and under-17 level while at Tottenham Hotspur. Offered a contract by the Gills, the 24-year-old announced his exit on social media last week and will be another popular option. Photo: James Chance
10. Matthew Pennington - Everton
Another one who came through youth football at the very top of the game, now 26-year-old Pennington looks likely to leave Everton in the coming weeks. A tall centre-half, he is an adequate ball player and has had successful loan spells at Leeds, Ipswich and Hull among others. Spent time with Shrewsbury last campaign. Photo: Jan Kruger
11. Shane Ferguson - Millwall
A hard-working left-sided 29-year-old set to leave Championship Millwall, Northern Ireland international Ferguson came through the ranks at Newcastle and enjoyed a handful of loan spells before joining the Lions in 2016. 161 league appearances later he would represent an experienced option.
