Here we take a look at some of your favourite international stars, suggested by supporters on Twitter and Facebook, who have graced the Hillsborough turf down the years.
9. Pavel Srnicek, Czech Republic
The popular Srnicek joined the club in 1999 and deputised for Kevin Pressman. The Czech stopper spent two seasons at Hillsborough and made 52 appearances. He tragically died in December 2015, aged just 47. Photo: Michael Steele
10. Jermaine Johnson, Jamaica
The pacey forward, who signed for the Owls from Bradford City in 2007, became something of a Wednesday icon over seven years at Hillsborough. He made nearly 250 appearances for Wednesday, scoring 25 goals. Johnson, now 40, is currently recovering after being shot in his native Jamaica earlier this month. Photo: Stu Forster
11. Paolo Di Canio, Italy
No one will ever forget Di Canio's time at S6. A player blessed with incredible, natural talent, he arrived at Hillsborough from Celtic for a club record £4m-plus fee in August 1997. But Di Canio’s career at Wednesday came to an abrupt end after just 18 months, with his infamous push on referee Paul Alcock in a 1-0 win over Arsenal proving to be the nail in his coffin – he was banned for 11 games and never played for the Owls again. The Italian scored 17 goals – many of them memorable – in under 50 appearances for the club. Photo: Ben Radford
