The Owls have not had the best of luck with injuries this season, and now it’s been confirmed that Fisayo Dele-Bashiru has joined the list of players who face a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
Neil Thompson confirmed after the 3-0 defeat at the hands of Brentford that Massimo Luongo’s knee injury had flared up and would now be out for at least a month, while Keiren Westwood’s return date remains unknown as he looks to get himself back after fracturing his ribs earlier this month.

Hide AdOn top of Luongo and Westwood, Wednesday also have Dominic Iorfa (Achilles), Joost van Aken (ankle), Moses Odubajo (hamstring) and Andre Green (Achilles) out of action this weekend, and Thompson also confirmed that Cameron Dawson was hit with a setback as he recovered from a knee injury, with the Wednesday boss revealing that it ‘flared up’ after his appearance with the club’s U23s.
But Dele-Bashiru’s injury is the latest major blow for the Owls as he faces four to six weeks out following a very late challenge from Henrik Dalsgaard, and ‘Thommo’ – who joked that he ‘daren’t go in the physio’s room’ admitted that it’s not the sort of tackle he likes to see.
"It’s his ankle… He was away from the lad, who was miles off it and he’s cynically brought him down and gone straight into Fizz’s ankle. He’s rolled it… The ball was nowhere near when the guy makes the tackle to bring him down. It’s not great, and it stopped us having an attack. But the worst thing for Fisayo is that he’s got injured.”
