Smith, who worked with Moore at Doncaster Rovers, has been confirmed as the club’s new assistant manager, while Williams has been appointed as a first team coach not long after leaving the Norwich City U18s setup.
The new Owls boss spoke today about why he wanted to bring them on board, saying that he wants some ‘continuity’ in his coaching team at Middlewood Road.

Hide AdSpeaking to The Star, he said, “They’re both excellent coaches… Jamie Smith’s come in as my assistant manager and Paul Williams in in terms of working with the players. It’s about getting that continuity in the training ground and working with groups and units. You need the man power on the grass to do that.
“Bringing them two in, they’re two excellent men with wonderful people skills, and are excellent coaches.”
While Neil Thompson, Lee Bullen and Steve Haslam will return to their previous roles in the youth setup at Hillsborough, Nicky Weaver is likely to remain as the goalkeeper coach for the time being.
Moore also explained that he doesn’t expect to add to his coaching team in the near future, saying, “Certainly for now that’s it, because obviously we’ve got a short space of time to work before the games start coming thick and fast. So we want to keep our focus on that.”
