‘Bloody diabolical’ – Neil Warnock bemoans Sheffield Wednesday situation after Middlesbrough win
Warnock is a well-known Blade and spent many years at Bramall Lane, and put another nail in the Owls’ coffin on Saturday afternoon as his Boro side ran out 3-1 winners over the Owls at the Riverside Stadium.
Wednesday aren’t yet dead and buried after Derby County threw away a 1-0 lead against Birmingham City, but now have just two games to make up the gap on the Rams – who they play on the final day of the 2020/21 season.

Hide AdWarnock has already seen United get relegated from the Premier League, and he admits that he’d take no pleasure in seeing the people of Sheffield handed another blow.
Speaking to the media after the game against Wednesday, he said, “For the Sheffield clubs to both get relegated, it’d be bloody diabolical because it means so much to people… But you don’t get relegated from two games do you? It’s about how many games they’ve lost.
“I do feel sorry for the fans though, because it’s not all about games is it? There’s the points deduction as well.”
And it seems like, for the drama of it if nothing else, the Boro boss wouldn’t be too upset to see his team’s bitter rivals pick up a result against Nottingham Forest this weekend.

“I think they’ve got to beat Forest - and they’re capable of beating anybody at home. It’s not an easy place, and the pitch isn’t very good. If they beat Forest then Derby are under immense pressure.
“There’s always something turns up at the end of the season. When you look at that last fixture, it couldn’t have been planned any better.”
Derby’s defeat means that as long as Wednesday don’t lose and the Rams don’t win, they have the chance to take it to the final day and the chance to pull off a real great escape.
