Cameron Dawson signs new long-term Sheffield Wednesday contract

Goalkeeper Cameron Dawson has today signed a new long-term contract with Sheffield Wednesday, tying him to the Championship club until the summer of 2024.

Dawson’s previous deal was due to expire at the end of the season and the 24-year-old was attracting the interest of a number of clubs, including Scottish giants Celtic and Rangers.

But the Owls have been in dialogue with Dawson’s representatives for a number of weeks and the two parties have finally agreed on fresh terms.

Dawson, who made his Wednesday debut as a substitute against Brighton and Hove Albion in October 2016, has racked up 62 appearances in all competitions for his hometown club.

He has leapfrogged Keiren Westwood in the pecking order for a starting spot, playing 19 times this season.

"I love this place,” Dawson told The Star. “It means an awful lot to me.”
