Back in December, the tricky Argentine said that he was returning home for a while to take stock of his life, saying in his termination confirmation, “After five years in Europe and living in three different countries, with the death of Diego Armando Maradona I realized that it was time to stop the ball a bit and go home to enjoy the really important things in life like family and friends.”

Now though, it appears that he’s ready to get back on the horse, and The Star understands that he’s on the verge of completing a move to Sri Pahang in the Malaysian Super League.

Hidalgo is believed to have undergone his medical this morning ahead of the switch, and has agreed a deal until the end of the season which comes in December.

It remains to be seen whether he will get the clearance required in order to make his Pahang debut alongside former Blackburn Rovers man, Hérold Goulon, but he’ll be itching to hit the ground running whenever he gets the chance.

The 22-year-old will be announced by Pahang imminently if things go to plan for him with regards to the final details of his move, and is expected to train with his new teammates for the first time this evening.
