French side Bordeaux have reportedly joined the race for in-demand Crystal Palace striker Connor Wickham, who has been linked with a move to Sheffield Wednesday.

The 26-year-old has struggled for game time at Selhurst Park and it’s understood Wednesday want to sign him on loan to boost their promotion push.

But the Owls – one of a number of clubs interested in signing Wickham – now face competition for his signature from the Ligue 1 side, according to reports in France.

For Girondinfos, a Twitter account which claims to bring fans all the latest news about the French side, say Bordeaux are also considering a move for the former Sunderland man.

Wickham, who has enjoyed two previous spells on loan at Hillsborough, was an unused substitute in Palace's 1-1 draw with Arsenal on Saturday.

When asked about Wickham after the Owls' win at Leeds, boss Garry Monk said: "We have probably been linked with everyone.”
