'He is not fit and proper' - Gordon Watson hits out at Sheffield Wednesday owner Chansiri after Tony Pulis sacking

The 62-year-old manager parted company with Wednesday on Monday evening after just 45 days and 10 games in charge at Hillsborough.

In a statement given to the club’s official website following the announcement, Chansiri justified the decision by saying: “The performances and results have not been of the level expected since Tony Pulis was appointed. There are also other issues which have had a bearing on this decision.

“On the pitch, seven points from a possible 30 is not acceptable. It is vital we maintain our Championship status and I feel I must make a change now with over half of the season remaining to give us the best possible chance of doing so.”

The Thai businessman only brought Pulis in to replace former boss Garry Monk in mid-November, and in a number of tweets posted late on Monday night, Watson made it clear that he feels the owner’s ruthless decision-making is in danger of causing real trouble for the Owls.

He said: “Sheffield Wednesday is one of the biggest clubs in the land and is having to deal with constant destabilisation by an owner who is treating the club and it's fans like some rag doll.

"Time to move on before the rag doll bites back. Surely the EFL can step in and end this.”

Watson added: “Fit and proper person should be just that.

"Sheffield Wednesday have someone at the helm who constantly proves he is not fit and proper to own such a jewel”.

Pulis endured a difficult time during his spell with the Owls, and picked up just one win in his 10 matches at the helm.

That result came just before Christmas with a 1-0 victory over Coventry City, and the Owls followed up that result with a battling 1-1 draw against Blackburn Rovers on Boxing Day.

Those four points were not enough to save the Welshman, however, and first team coach Neil Thompson will now take charge of the team for Tuesday evening’s game against Middlesbrough in a caretaker capacity.
