Keiren Westwood's return - What Tony Pulis had to say on the return of the Sheffield Wednesday goalkeeper

Westwood had been frozen out under Garry Monk and it’s been a year since he last played a competitive game of football for the Owls, but Pulis has seemingly given everybody a clean slate ahead of his debut game against Preston North End this weekend.
The 36-year-old has played almost 200 games for Wednesday since joining the club back in 2014, but fell down the pecking order during Monk’s tenure and found himself with the youngsters behind academy graduates, Joe Wildsmith and Cameron Dawson.

Hide AdNow though, it was revealed in a video released by the club that the former Sunderland man was back in the senior team setup on Pulis’ first day at work, with the experienced shot-stopper training with Wildsmith and Dawson under the watchful eye of Nicky Weaver following Darryl Flahavan’s exit.
Pulis has made no bones of the fact that he’ll be looking to get Westwood back in among things for the club, telling the media, “No disrespect to anybody at the football club or the youngsters that were in, but personally I think the kid is one of the best goalkeepers in the Championship. Id be looking to be picking him, and looking for him to be playing.”
It remains to be seen whether that will mean a return for Westwood against Preston North End this coming weekend in what will be Pulis’ first game in charge of the club.
