Cup performance gives Laws a big boost for Wolves test

He praised his players for the way they recovered from the opening-day shock to show skill and spirit and come from behind to win 3-1 at Millmoor

"Anyone who saw us at Ipswich and saw us go 1-0 down will have started to think there's another upset on the cards.

"But we didn't panic. We've got character. We have nerve. We've stood up to be counted. We took control. We showed our quality in the end.

"Goals change games; our first goal was important."

Glenn Whelan equalised after Rotherham took the lead through Danny Harrison, and goals from Deon Burton - against his former club - and Wade Small put the Owls on the way to a home tie against Hartlepool, the club's 2005 play-off final opponents.

Laws added: "We can go into our game against Wolves with hope. I'd never seen so much negativity around the club, and among supporters.

"We have to expect a thunderous 90 minutes against Wolves. We go into the game with a bit more confidence."

Laws also admitted to "a few sleepless nights" after the "horror show" of the Ipswich match. He also said: "It's been one of the whackiest summers I've known, with the things that have happened. You come out stronger for it."

Francis Jeffers was not risked last night, because of a slight calf strain, but will play against Wolves, said Laws.

Marcus Tudgay went off with a shoulder injury and the Owls wait to check in him.

Keeper Lee Grant, who was at fault for one of the goals on his debut at Ipswich, played well and made what Rotherham boss Mark Robins described as a "world-class" save. He said: "It was the best save I've seen for a long, long time. It was unbelievable."
