Owls fans join Brunt debate

OWLS fans have been bombarding The Star's website with messages prompted by the sale of Chris Brunt, and the contract stalemate over Glenn Whelan. Both issues are proving to be big talking points and are attracting differing views. Examples are -

From TomG: "What are the current board playing at in terms of contract offers? We have already lost one of the star players of the Championship (Brunty) to a rival team because we fail to offer him the contract he deserves. Yet despite a tight wages budget, we somehow persuade Francis Jeffers to sign a contract that must be worth more than what any other player in the Owls squad is on!

Crookes Owl: Brunty saw the bright lights and wanted away. Magic (Madjid Bougherra] did the same. It's not the first time and it won't be the last time a player moves for financial reasons. Why is anyone blaming the board? Because they put a value on a player and stick to it? Because they are trying to avoid the financial mistakes of the past? No doubt someone from Wednesdayite is drafting a response as we speak. Let's stop being negative and support the players who still want to wear the shirt!

Holl: Just goes to show how the club intends to move forward, letting its best players leave. What a joke! Last season gave a glimmer of hope and belief to the blue side of the city. I don't believe Kaven Walker or Dave Allen are doing anything that would make me believe we are moving forward.

Superslick45: If Chris Brunt thinks the Baggies have a better chance of promotion than the Owls it shows what a mess this club really is in.
