Sheffield Wednesday boss Garry Monk hits back at complacency claims ahead of Bristol City clash

Monk's side head into the busy festive period in high spirits, having taken 11 points from their last five matches. Their resounding 4-0 win at Nottingham Forest last weekend saw them bag the League Managers Association Performance of the week award and move into the Championship play-off positions.

But despite Wednesday's impressive form, Robins assistant head coach Jamie McAllister claimed that it is a “good time” to face Monk's side. He thinks “they might be a bit complacent” after a five-match unbeaten run.

Monk said: “I don't expect complacency at all. I will be very surprised if there was but what we do know is there will be some difficult times, setbacks and periods in games that are going to be hard for us.

“It will not be through a lack of effort and commitment. No chance. I have worked with this squad for a while now and I have not seen that in them. Each game is so important to us and we are fighting.”

The Owls boss has virtually a fully-fit squad to choose from as they look to maintain their strong home record. Fernando Forestieri (knee) is unlikely to be fit, but Kieran Lee is available again after missing the win at the City Ground to attend the birth of his child.

Full-back Moses Odubajo could be involved after completing a one-match ban. Midfielder Sam Hutchinson, though, is still suspended.
