Scott Hogan’s last minute goal broke Sheffield Wednesday hearts at St Andrew’s on Saturday, but the performance from Garry Monk’s side was much-improved in comparison to recent weeks. Can they go one better on Wednesday night when they host Charlton Athletic? Here is everything you need to know about the visitors:

How is their season going?

It has been a ‘game of two halves’, so to speak. Pundits expected the Addicks to struggle on their return to the Championship, yet in the opening weeks they defied those predictions by racking up the points. Notable results included a draw at West Brom, and a 1-0 win against Leeds United. From November onwards, the reality of life in the second tier has arrived with a vengeance, and Charlton are now very much amongst the relegation scrap. There are recent signs that they are turning a corner though – they have three wins in February already, and could pull further away from the bottom three if they can keep their current form up.

As previously mentioned, their recent form is promising. The Addicks have racked up vital wins in six-pointers with fellow strugglers Luton Town and Barnsley this month, and even battled to a shock win against Nottingham Forest at the City Ground a couple of weeks ago. They still have ‘off days’ though, and have comfortably lost to both Stoke City and Blackburn Rovers in February. Which Charlton Athletic side will turn up to Hillsborough? Who knows.

Dangerman?

Lyle Taylor: Regularly linked with Sheffield Wednesday in January, Charlton’s good run of form has coincided with a return to fitness from their dangerous striker. Taylor’s spectacular goal against Luton Town on Saturday highlights just how talented he is.

Their manager?

Lee Bowyer: The former Leeds United midfielder said that he ‘didn’t want to be a manager’, but it turns out that he is pretty good in the hotseat. Bowyer masterminded a play-off final win over Sunderland last year, and given his resources, deserves huge credit if he can steer Charlton away from relegation this season.

Odds?

Sheffield Wednesday win: 3/4, Draw: 13/5, Charlton Athletic win: 19/5
