Sheffield Wednesday attacker on his contract situation amid reported Middlesbrough, Reading and Watford interest

The 27-year-old attacker, who has played in a variety of different positions during his spell with the Owls, will see his current deal expire at the end of the June, making him a free agent to sign wherever he pleases.

Reports elsewhere have already linked him with a Neil Warnock reunion at Middlesbrough, as well as with the likes of Reading and Watford, as all three allegedly keep their eyes on him.

It’s unlikely that the former Cardiff City man will be short of potential suitors should he eventually move on from Hillsborough come July, but he admits that his only focus right now is trying to stave off relegation.

Speaking to Yorkshire Live this week ahead of the trip to Watford, Harris admitted that there’s not really been any movement on the contract front.

He said, "There has not been an update really. We are still in the same position.

"You hear a lot of things and rumours about clubs being interested in you when you are a free agent.

"All I am focused on is staying in the Championship with Sheffield Wednesday. That is all that has been on my mind."

Harris has played 75 Championship games for the Owls since joining in 2019, and he’ll be eager to make sure that – regardless of where he finds himself next season – he doesn’t end up with a relegation on his CV.

Only seven players in the Championship with more than eight appearances average more successful dribbles per game than Harris (1.7), however he won’t be happy with this return of three assists and no goals in his 32 league showings.

Harris is one of many SWFC players who are currently out of contract at the end of June, varying from experienced senior players such as Tom Lees and Adam Reach to youngsters like Osaze Urhoghide.

It remains to be seen if the winger will be handed a starting berth against the Hornets at Vicarage Road on Good Friday as the Darren Moore aims for shock back-to-back wins.
