The Hibernian centre back will see his contract expire at the end of the season, meaning that he could agree a pre-contract outside of the country in January if he wished, and there has been plenty of talk about where his future may lie.

The publication states that the Owls are joined by Stoke City, Millwall and Luton Town on Porteous’ list of admirers, while it is said that Hibs have made an offer to extend his contact – one that’s not been accepted just yet.

His club manager, Lee Johnson, was asked about the 23-year-old’s future this week as he draws ever closer to the last six months of his deal, but he says the focus right now is Porteous on the pitch.

Speaking ahead of their final game before a month-long World Cup break, Johnson said, “Let’s get this game out of the way and then in the next press conference we can embrace those types of questions. I don’t know any more from two or three weeks ago, when it was parked. Then it will be ‘what are you doing?’ And it will be ‘I am or I’m not’.

“But at the moment he’s obviously playing and it’s not something you want to push while he’s playing.”
