Barry Bannan’s 85th minute penalty was enough to separate the sides in a scrappy encounter in front of the Sky Sports cameras and the victory extends Wednesday’s unbeaten run to six games. Here’s how our reporter Alex Miller rated each player – do you agree with him?
5. Morgan Fox - 6
Off on the half-hour mark with a head injury. Dealt with the threat of Weimann once or twice during his outing and though a little ponderous in moments on the ball, produced a handful of decent balls over the top. Photo: Steve Ellis
6. Adam Reach - 7
Probing. Offered an outlet, made a couple of teasing crosses and looks more confident after a promising couple of weeks. Missed from a training ground corner routine early in the second half. Photo: Steve Ellis
7. Barry Bannan - 9
A fine example of how to control a game of football at this level - anything notable seemed to start with him. His diagonal balls are a constant danger and so it proved again. Thoroughly deserved his first goal of the season, too. Photo: Steve Ellis
8. Massimo Luongo - 6
One of his least effective matches in a Wednesday shirt. Failed to inject the sort of energy he is famed for and seemed a little shackled, unable to bomb on to join the attack. Harshly yellow carded with 20 minutes left and off for Pelupessy in the final moments. Photo: Steve Ellis
