Sheffield Wednesday star's mission and the bond he feels with fans at Hillsborough
Bannan is one of the longest-serving players in the Wednesday current squad and was on the brink of helping them to promotion to the English Premier League in 2016 when they were pipped to the post by Hull City.
Now, with football currently at a standstill, he’s explained why he feels so close to the Wednesday faithful, and what he gets now that he didn’t experience at any other point in his career.

What I’ve got here that I didn’t get at Villa is the adulation of the fans, I’ve got a massive bond with the Sheffield Wednesday fans. They took to me from day one.”
And despite the tough 2019/20 season which at one stage had promised so much, Bannan still has high hopes for his time at Hillsborough, adding, “I have been at the club for five years now, which is a long time, and I have enjoyed every minute of it.
“The only down point I would say is I have not got the club to the Premier League yet and that is something I want to do before I finish my career.
“Hopefully I have got another five or six good years ahead of me. Touch wood I stay clear from injuries and stuff like that but I want to play in the Premier League.
