A 3-0 victory at Hillsborough saw the Owls beat Rochdale and secure their spot in the third round, with Rochdale unable to deal with the quality of shooting from Darren Moore’s side in front of almost 10,000 fans at Hillsborough.

Jaden Brown got the ball rolling as he curled home from range, before Fisayo Dele-Bashiru fizzed one into the top corner from outside the box. Dennis Adeniran got in on the act not long later as he picked up the ball on the edge of the circle before rifling home.

Here are our ratings from a professional evening at S6.

Cameron Dawson – 6

Tough to give a rating out to Dawson given that he wasn’t really active for most of the game. He marshalled his box well when called upon, but Rochdale didn’t even have a shot in anger for him to save, and he barely had to deal with any crosses either.

Jay Glover - 7

It was a big night for the 19-year-old as he made his senior debut in Wednesday colours… It’s a big step up from U21 football to the this level, and he certainly didn’t look out of place. Worked hard in the right wingback position,

Dominic Iorfa - 8

Iorfa’s resurgence continued in what was another top performance from him. He’s clearly been asked to get further up the pitch, and he did well on numerous occasions as he bounded down the right side. Defended well when he was asked to, but he was also key in starting attacks as well.

Ben Heneghan – 7

A tidy performance from the Wednesday defender, who won what he had to win – even though there wasn’t too much to do. Didn’t put a foot wrong and dealt with everything that came his way. Sadly limped off in the second half – hopefully it’s nothing too bad.

Mark McGuinness – 7

After his sterling debut at Bolton, plenty of eyes were on McGuinness once again in his first appearance at Hillsborough, and he didn’t disappoint. Once more he looked comfortable on the ball, played it out nicely with both feet, and was very composed in possession.

Jaden Brown - 9

It was a big night for Brown given how little he’s got to play for Wednesday, but he certainly didn’t waste his opportunity… Did his job well down the left, showed drive going forward and responsibility going back. His goal wasn’t bad either – you should check it out.

Will Vaulks - 7

He was given the captain’s armband this evening by Moore, and he did his job comfortably in the heart of midfield. Picked out some nice passes and won the ball back on numerous occasions. A pretty steady showing from him.

Fisayo Dele-Bashiru – 8

The midfielder will have had a bit of a point to prove after being left out for the last couple of games, and he didn’t hang about. From the off he looked busy, and caused plenty of problems for Rochdale… He also hit an absolute rocket to make it 2-0.

Dennis Adeniran - 8

Not to be outdone by Brown and FDB, Adeniran wanted to get in on the fun… He looks like he’s got the bit between his teeth whenever he’s had chance to play this season, and his all-round game was tremendous again. Full of energy, and his goal was another peach.

Callum Paterson – 7

Another tireless effort from Wednesday’s energetic forward. Wasn’t able to get on the scoresheet, but he worked incredibly hard for the team and was constantly putting the Dale backline under pressure. Didn’t give them an inch all game.

Sylla Sow – 6

Worked hard enough, but wasn’t as involved in the game as he’ll have wanted to be. Showed a couple of nice touches and almost got a great assist for Paterson near the end only to see it pinched off the end of his teammate’s foot.

Ryan Galvin – 6

Got a good 45 minutes under his belt that he’ll have enjoyed. Looked steady as the left-sided centre back alongside Heneghan and then Ihiekwe, and Moore will be pleased with his positional play despite the real lack of defensive play he had to do.

Michael Ihiekwe – 6

Came on in the second half after Heneghan went off with a knock. Didn’t do much wrong after taking to the field, but wasn’t really put under any pressure. Got away with a loose backpass in the final 10 minutes though.

Alex Hunt – 7

Showed a few nice touches as he came on for the final 20 minutes or so. Tidy in possession and didn’t put a foot wrong. Have to feel that he could do with more minutes this season – even if it means heading out on loan somewhere. Showed some real quality with the ball at his feet.

George Byers – 7

The midfielder was the busiest of the three subs that spent the longest amount of time on the field. Showed a few nice flicks and put a pressure on the Rochdale backline during his time on the field.
