Stunning long-range efforts from Jaden Brown, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru and Dennis Adeniran earned the Owls a place in the third round.

But Ben Henegahan and Fisayo Dele-Bashiru hobbled off early in the clash, while there was concern over Mark McGuinness and Dominic Iorfa, who looked to be in some discomfort holding his shoulder.

Owls boss Darren Moore said: “We think Iorfa and Fiz are both knocks, Ben’s is maybe a more muscular one but it’s too early to say.

“We’ll take a look at them tomorrow, first thing in the morning. Hopefully it won’t be anything.

“Ben said he’d come off more as a precaution, Fiz and Dom’s were both knocks.

“I never want to say where injuries are straight after a game. Let’s just see where they are over the next couple of days. Hopefully they won’t be too serious but I don’t want to say now just in case.”

New boy McGuinness, who has caught the eye in his two outings in Wednesday colours, was taken off at half-time.

But Moore reported it was all part of the plan: “We always wanted to just give him the 45 minutes, that was always the plan,” he said.

“He played Saturday, tonight was about giving him 45 minutes and bringing Ryan Galvin on, so we’re pleased to see that plan come off.

“He’s had 45 minutes, he’s fine and Ryan came in and did well for the next 45 minutes.”
