Sheffield Wednesday’s Jordan Rhodes linked with Owls’ Championship rivals Cardiff City

Rhodes’ big-money move to Hillsborough from Middlesbrough as not worked out as hoped, with the forward struggling to hit the highs of other points in his career in what has been a tough spell in South Yorkshire.
The 31-year-old forward has been in and out of the side once again this season under all of the managers that have been in charge of the Owls, and it seems unlikely that he will be extending his stay any further as all parties look for a bit of a clean break.

Hide AdAccording to a report in The Sun today, Mick McCarthy is eager to try and bring the forward on board as a free agent once he’s officially left Wednesday, suggesting that it’ll be a case of revisiting him as an option following previous interest in the January transfer window.
Rhodes is one of many players – both senior and younger – who will be out of contract at Hillsborough come the end of the 2020/21 campaign, and McCarthy will no doubt be looking at his overall goalscoring record in the English Football League while considering making a move for his services.
Wednesday recently announced that captain, Barry Bannan, had signed a new two-year deal to keep him at SWFC beyond this season, though the likes of Rhodes, Tom Lees, Adam Reach, Kadeem Harris and several others are yet to make a decision on what lies ahead.
