So, with it being St Patrick’s Day we thought it was the perfect opportunity to take a look at some of the Irishmen who have starred for the Owls.
1. Keiren Westwood, 2014 to present
Westwood has played 20 times for the Republic of Ireland since making his debut in 2009. Although he featured in Mick McCarthy’s squad for the Euro 2020 qualifiers against Gibraltar and Georgia in March 2019, the last cap he won was in the 3-1 friendly win over Uruguay in June 2017. 2. John Sheridan, 1989-1996
Sheridan won 34 caps for the Republic of Ireland, scoring five times, and was part of Jack Charlton's squad that travelled to Euro 1988 in West Germany but didn't feature in any of the three games. He was also part of Ireland's squads for the 1990 World Cup in Italy and the 1994 World Cup in the US. He played just one game as a substitute in 1990 but started in all four matches in 1994. 3. Nigel Worthington, 1984-1994
Worthington won 66 caps for Northern Ireland. He made his debut for Billy Bingham's side in the 1-1 draw away to Wales in the 1984 British Home Championship. He started two of Northern Ireland's three matches at the Mexico 86 World Cup and served as captain from 1995 to 1996. His final international cap came in 1997. Photo: Sheffield Newspapers
4. Chris Brunt, 2004-2007
Brunt made 65 appearances for Northern Ireland. He missed out on the chance to appear at Euro 2016 after damaging his anterior cruciate ligament. He announced his retirement from international football in August 2018. Photo: Clive Brunskill
