Wednesday’s 3-0 defeat at the hands of Reading over the weekend meant that they remain seven points adrift of Birmingham City in 21st place, meaning that even if they hadn’t been docked six points then they’d still have been in the bottom three.

Moore hasn’t had long to try and impose his style on the players at Hillsborough since being appointed last week, but has already got two games under his belt as he seeks to pull off what would be an impressive escape for the Championship strugglers.

But things are likely to get tougher this coming weekend as they go up against a Norwich City side pushing hard for promotion back into the Premier League, and the Wednesday boss admits that they’re up against it.

Speaking after the loss at the Madejski Stadium, he told the media, “All the odds are stacked against us, but we’re still in there with a fighting chance and we keep working and keep that belief.

“It’s been five or six days, with two games to plan and prepare for, so there’s been a lot gone on in and around the club this week, and it’s a momentous week in terms of planning and preparing, but one thing I have seen is the desire from the group to try and get on the right side and try and get the right results. They’ve not come, but there’s only us who can turn the corner and get this place moving.

“We have to keep the belief, move onto the next game, and we’ve still got 12 games ahead of us, starting on Sunday, and we’ve got a week to plan and prepare for that.”

Moore will have a full week with his new players for the first time since his arrival going into this week, and one extra day to prepare than usual given that the game is taking place on Sunday afternoon.

Wednesday are looking to halt a six-game losing streak as they host Norwich at Hillsborough.
