Even going back as far as to when Carlos Carvalhal was in charge, Wednesday were dogged by injuries to key players – and for lengthy spells – and Pulis walked into Middlewood yesterday to be greeted by a squad a lot lighter than he wants it to be.
The new manager appeared exasperated by the fact that a number of his new players will be on the sidelines when he puts together his first starting XI for Saturday’s Championship clash with Preston.

"The biggest disappointment at the moment coming in is to see the players that we've got injured,” he said.
"We've got very, very important players injured and we picked up another two injuries this week. That sets the whole thing back a little bit.
He added: "The first priority is to win some games, I think that's important. The next priority is to make sure we don't get any more injuries.
