“We knew something was wrong…” – Dejphon Chansiri on Liam Shaw to Celtic and other Sheffield Wednesday contracts
Shaw is thought to have agreed a precontract with the Scottish Premiership outfit that will kick in on July 1st, and is expected to commit to a long-term contract in Glasgow after a number of impressive showings for the Owls this season.
While there had been no official confirmation from Wednesday of his expected departure, Chansiri has now explained that it wasn’t that they didn’t want to keep him around.

Hide AdSpeaking to the media today after appointing Darren Moore, he said, “I thought he was going to go to Celtic because of the agent talking to Celtic.
"When he had a chance to play for the first team, he did quite well and we tried to keep him. We talked to them quite a long time but they just asked to wait and we know why they asked to wait because maybe they try to find another club.
"I heard from my people, they told me some fans say 'Why didn't we try to sign him last year or before?'. I believe no-one last year or before in the summer no-on talked about Liam Shaw. They just tried to talk about him when he is in the first XI and he is doing okay.
"We tried to extend his contract but the agent asked to wait and wait. We knew something was wrong and it's normal in football - when a player tries to be good, then they already try to find another club… It doesn't mean Celtic will look after him for a long time."

Hide AdShaw is just one of many players who are out of contract at Hillsborough come the end of June, and Chansiri says that they have already had talks with a number of players that they are hoping to see extend their deals.
He said, “The players we want to keep, we’ve already spoken to them for a while. We’re just waiting for them to come back.”
At this point in time, only Barry Bannan has agreed a deal beyond the end of this season.
