Combative midfielder Massimo Luongo has been struggling with a thigh injury but tests have been positive and the Owls are cautiously hoping he’ll be able to feature in the matchday squad for the match against Luton Town next Saturday.
New signing Andre Green is still struggling with an achilles injury, Thompson said, and is facing a longer spell on the sidelines.

“Massimo has had a scan on his thigh, it’s not as bad as than we thought and we’re hoping that before the weekend he’ll be back on the grass joining in.
“Whether Saturday might come a bit too quick for him, probably, that might be a bit optimistic, but we’re certainly hoping to have him back in full training next week and hopefully available for selection.”
There was speculation in midweek as to the fitness of centre-half Chey Dunkley, who came off after the hour in Tuesday’s 1-0 defeat at Stoke.

“I thought he was looking a little bit tired,” he said. “He’s been out quite a while injury-wise and I wanted us to get further up the pitch.
“Hutch does that for us, but there are no issues there with Chey.”
