Pulis parted ways with Wednesday at the end of December after a difficult start to life at Hillsborough that saw him pick up just one win in 45 days at the helm. Neil Thompson was then made interim manager, and a quick upturn in results followed shortly afterwards.
While Wednesday have lost their last four league games, prompting the decision to appoint Moore, Thompson and his technical team did oversee a period where Wednesday won five out of 11 Championship matches, and the chairman says he felt it was best to leave him to it while things were going well.

Hide AdChansiri started off Moore’s press conference by thanking the likes of Thompson, Lee Bullen and Steve Haslam for their ‘hard work’ over the last couple of months, and admitted that he felt now was the time to make a change.
He told the media, “When I made Neil Thompson the caretaker, he did quite well. And I believe that fans and even the media said that he was good enough and that I should give it to him permanently… But for me, during the time he was doing good, he should continue to do that. To keep going.
“But now I think it’s the right time to change.”
He’s done just that by appoint Moore, and while there was no talk of contract lengths, the chairman did suggest that he hopes the new manager will be at the club for a long time to come, saying, “Normally, all of the coaches I have, I always expect them to stay with us long-term if they’re still ambitious and confident to work for that.”
Moore took his first training session at Middlewood Road earlier today alongside new technical team members, Jamie Smith and Paul Williams, but won’t have much time to work on things with his players ahead of Wednesday night’s visit of Rotherham United to Hillsborough for his opening game as the Owls’ new boss.
