Soccer great comes to town

ENGLAND soccer legend Sir Geoff Hurst will be joining over 400 football-mad youngsters from across Doncaster taking part in a football festival organised by Doncaster Rovers Football in the Community in partnership with the Sheffield and Hallamshire FA and McDonald's - the FA's community partner.

The free one-day festival, which will run from 9.30am to 3.30p, will take place Hall Cross Lower School, Bessacarr.

It signals the end of McDonald’s Football Festival Tour 2007 which has seen 43 free festivals held across England’s communities giving youngsters the chance to learn new football skills as well as enjoy a great day out.

The festival will see boys and girls of all ages play games, practice their shooting and take part in a range of activities at the school.

Event organiser Kelly Dayus-Cook said: “Everyone is really looking forward to the Festival. It a great opportunity for youngsters to learn the latest skills.”

McDonald’s director of football, the hat-trick hero of England’s 1966 4-2 World Cup final win over Germany at Wembley, said: “I’m delighted that McDonald’s is offering youngsters this amazing opportunity.”
