Spireites boss unlikely to dip into market

With the transfer window approaching tomorrow, it is unlikely that Chesterfield manager Lee Richardson will be tempted to make any further signings.

With Sheffield United loan man Nicky Travis (ankle), utility player Gareth Davies (toe) and striker Jamie Ward (hamstring) all likely to be available again in the next few weeks, Richardson can look forward to a boost in numbers from within, though Ward's injury is likely to keep him out for the longest of the three, with six further weeks out being the latest synopsis.

Should Spireites suffer further injuries, the emergency loan route looks to be the most likely one for the manager to take.

There were no fresh injury worries after the win at Peterborough United as Chesterfield prepare to welcome Wycombe Wanderers to Saltergate on Saturday.

Ex-Champions League winner Paul Lambert, a member of Borussia Dortmund's winning team ten years ago, saw his side Wycombe win their first match of the season at the weekend.

They dominated a Bury side that visit Chesterfield in eight days time, though they managed only a one goal win, Argentinian Sergio Torres heading home.

The biggest conundrum for Richardson will be whether to play two or three up front.
