Hallam title bid boosted by Treeton

A GREAT performance by Treeton's Steve Foster meant Whitley Hall's Premier Division title hopes took a nose dive and enabled Hallam to forge further ahead at the top.

Whitley were demolished by Foster who took a season’s best 8-33 as Whitley were rushed out for just 70 at Washfield Lane.

Then Foster and Danny Kemp eased Treeton to a nine-wicket triumph that keeps their own hopes alive.

Hallam did not waste the opportunity and stretched their lead at the top with a five wicket win over Norton Oakes.

All-rounder Jim Tasker was again to the fore with 5-13 in Norton’s 157 (Shaun Trower 62), Steve Howe picking up 4-36.

Then Tasker 64, and Nick Muzyczka 35, helped set up the 158-5 reply.

Elsecar skipper Lesroy Weekes starred in the win at Wath with an aggressive unbeaten 114 and a 4-26 stint.

Wickersley were high-scorers of the day making 314-5 thanks to a magnificent unbeaten 160 from Haidar Jahangir, the top individual score of the day. Opponents Collegiate were not disgraced with 242-4, Riaz Richards hitting 62 and Andy Simpson 55.

Relegation strugglers Shiregreen put up their best display to-date answering Doncaster Town’s 192-6 with 194-5. Liquat Ali was top bat with 84 for Shiregreen while Ashley Knowles struck a half-century for Doncaster.

Barnsley added to Rockingham’s relegation fears by making 171 and restricting them to 120. The home wickets were shared by Griffiths 4-21 and Ivill 3-29.

Thorncliffe’s Rakesh Solanki hit his second successive century with 124 against Aston Hall in Division One. In the same section, Darfield’s Kulbushan hit 89 in the win over Warmsworth.

Treeton Seconds completed a winning club double over Whitley Hall, Manny Mudhar and Adam Sylva seeing off Whitley for 183, and George Barnes’s unbeaten 67 steering Treeton to 184-2.
