Main take honours over Mexborough

Brian Barrass (21-9), Hilary Bennett (21-6) and Steve Yates (21-7) shone for Yorkshire Main in their 197-143 win over Mexborough Athletic in the Doncaster Bowls Association Saturday League Premier Section.

Dennis Reilly (21-7) was the only winner for Askern as Section A league leaders Woodlands Park had good wins from Dave Patrickson senior (21-8), Mark Haries (21-7), John Richardson (21-9), Dave Patrickson junior (21-5) and Thomas Boyd (21-8) in their 196-119 success.

Jim Spencer (21-6) helped Askern take an early lead, but Carcroft had the last five winners, including Phil Stones (21-8), and claimed a 180-155 vvictory.

Last man Richard Curtis won 21-8 for Tickhill in their 187-158 victory over Bawtry.

Tickhill also beat visiting Carcroft 204-164.

Don Goodfellow (21-3), Eric Bailey (21-5), Mark Haries (21-8) and Tom Boyd (21-9) all won well for Woodlands Park in their 205-110 verdict against Wickersley.

Anne Hammond's first win of the season (21-4) was not enough for Roundwood C as Brian Stubbs (21-8) helped secure Brodsworth B a 167-163 Section B win.

Denaby had good wins from Tommy Jones and Bill Sudworth (both 21-6), Chris Pattison (21-8) and Mick Taylor (21-7) in their 198-128 victory over Maltby.

Des Crowcroft (21-8) was unable to save the game for Thorne as the visitors lost 183-178.

Mark Whittaker (21-7) and Carl Perks (21-9) featured for Hexthorpe as they won their bottom-of-the-table clash 202-146 against Roundwood C.

Jim Parker (21-6) caught the eye for Adwick B in their 204-149 Section C win over Mexborough B.

Jack Jones and Alma Beresford both won 21-9 for Bawtry B in their 193-162 victory over Parklands B.

Alf Dyson (21-3) and Barbara Dean’s first win of the season (21-9) helped Mexborough B register a comfortable 198-146 win at Hexthorpe Flatts B.

Westfield Park B could only field eight players, but they still managed seven winners, including Linda Rout (21-3), Bob Sisman (21-9) and Darren Rogers (21-9) in their 162-140 derby win at Hexthorpe Flatts B to retain top spot.
