Stephen Hendry has been drawn against Jimmy White in the first round of qualifying for the 2021 World Snooker Championships as he continues his comeback.

The seven-time world champion, one of the greats of the game, came out of retirement this month and has entered the draw to win a place at the Crucible, Sheffield.

But he couldn’t believe it when he was drawn against his old foe White when it was revealed to him live on ITV Sport.

The two veterans have met four times in the World Championship final, with Hendry winning on every occasion.

The Scot retired in 2012, before making his return earlier this month when he lost to Matthew Selt in the first round of the Gibraltar Open.

Englishman White, 58, has lost six World Championship finals, and is currently ranked 83rd in the world.

Both players will need to win four matches to qualify for the tournament at the Crucible.

Their first round tie will be the best of 11 frames, with the winner facing China's Xu Si in the second round.

Speaking about the draw to ITV4, Hendry said: "Stop it. No. I can't believe that. You’re winding me up. Seriously? That’s unbelievable

"All those finals and now we are starting off at rock bottom and will play each other in the very first round, it's incredible.

"We have been practising together but that has ended."
