Spireites ready for an early Easter parade

Two teams who achieved their first win of the season last Saturday come together at Saltergate tomorrow.

Whilst Spireites were forcing the rest of League Two to take notice with their incident packed 3-2 win at big spending Peterborough United, another pre-season promotion fancied side, Wycombe Wanderers, were seeing off Bury in a more low-key encounter.

Managed by ex-Champions League winner Paul Lambert, who marked Juventus’s Zinedine Zidane out of the game when Borussia Dortmund became Europe’s No.1 10 years ago, Wanderers saw a header by Argentinian midfielder Sergio Torres, defeat unfancied Bury.

The result followed a 2-2 draw with new-boys Dagenham & Redbridge, a last minute penalty equaliser earned that point, while they lost at home to Accrington Stanley in their opener.

The scorer of the point saving spot-kick against Daggers was last season’s League Two top scorer Jermaine Easter, rumoured this week to be unsettled and looking for a move up a section to Swindon Town.

Lambert’s denied that a move is on the cards having, earlier this season, turned down a 125,000 bid for the ex- Stockport front man from the County Ground. The manager has indicated he expects his striker to be playing at Saltergate.

However, with today being the last day the transfer window’s fully open until January, the man who bagged 24 goals last term may well be on his way.

Spireites are likely to be unchanged with Jamie Lowry, who scored his first ever senior goal last week, set to retain his place on the right of midfield, though Jamie Jackson and Adam Smith offer more attacking options should Lee Richardson read that as being necessary.

The improving Gregor Robertson will be confident after his performance at left back at London Road earned a place in the Coca Cola League Two Team of the Week whilst Jack Lester will be looking to continue his superlative form.
