Team gets medals back

THE young Sheffield cricketers who won a national tournament and then had to hand back the medals, have finally been presented with them for good.

Sheffield Junior Cricket Association’s U-14s won the Lord’s Taverners Inner Cities competition at Arundel in August but, because of an investigation into disciplinary matters involving some teams - and which Sheffield denied involvement in - the medals were ordered to be returned immediately after the ceremony.

Now, following an appeal by the Sheffield Area Cricket Council, the Lords Taverners have agreed that the decision was harsh under the circumstances and so the youngsters have now been reacquainted with the awards.
