Tigers on a high for 'fours' event

SHEFFIELD Tigers take a team to Workington tonight for the Northern Fours - boosted by Thursday's stunning win over reigning champions King's Lynn.

The top four riders in the Owlerton team - Ricky Ashworth, Andre Compton, Joel Parsons and Ben Wilson will represent the club in the Four Team Tournament race format.

Co-promoter David Hoggart admits the win over King's Lynn has given everyone a lift and they go into tonight's meeting strongly fancied to do well against the home side, Newcastle and Redcar.

He said: "Everyone was in a jubilant mood after Thursday's meeting, we were delighted because everyone put on a good show and we got what we deserved.

"Although there are no league points on the table tonight, we can go there and do well and it would be nice to win the Northern Fours.

"I'm looking forward to it and so are the boys. There's no pressure and they can simply go out there and enjoy themselves."

Workington are represented by Ulrich Ostergaard, James Wright, Kauko Nieminen and Craig Branney and will start the meeting as clear favourites.
