Apartment planning bid

AN APARTMENT block and three houses could be built in Darnall, Sheffield, on a site formerly occupied by the Darnall Medical Aid Society charity.

Developers want to build a block of apartments, and three houses with garages, at the junction of Fisher Lane and Ronald Road.

A previous application, withdrawn in May, for 12 apartments and parking led to a 169-name petition of protest.

Objectors said the site was too steep, there would be noise and light disturbance, parking problems, and more traffic.

The latest application has led to three letters of objection, as well as a letter from Attercliffe MP Clive Betts, raising concerns from a local constituent.

Sheffield Council planning officers are recommending the plan be approved, subject to a number of conditions. Councillors on the South and East planning board will meet on Monday.
