An outside chance to be right on the inside

YOU can be outside by being during the next couple of weeks. Or be with the in-crowd by going outside.

Confused? Well, there's no need.

We're talking about Stuart Sandford, whose exhibition called Outside is running throughout August at Sheffield's Showroom Bar and is complmented with a talk by the artist next Thursday at 7pm.

Outside is a new ongoing series of video landscapes which explore the idea of both the landscape as image and the re-appropriation of public spaces for sexual activity, directly relating to the ghetto-isation of homosexual practices.

The project is supported by funding from Arts Council.

Stuart describes himself as a visual artist from Sheffield whose practice explores the nature and process of image making and the role of the image maker in the 21st Century.

"This has predominantly related to the nature of the portrait and ideas of the public and the private

" The new ongoing series, entitled Outside, further expands these ideas as well as being concerned with the nature of the landscape and notions of space and place."

Stuart's work has been exhibited and published nationally and internationally. Outside is part of Digital Space. He will present his talk about this and previous works in Showroom 5. Admission: 2/1.50.
