Rod Stewart’s tartan and leopard print army take over Bramall Lane as legend rocks Sheffield

The rain failed to dampen the spirits of the tartan and leopard print clad army when Sir Rod Stewart performed in Sheffield last night.

The music icon didn't disappoint his fans, both young and old, as he performed his hits to an audience of thousands at Bramall Lane.

You could forgive Sir Rod for not putting on the liveliest of shows - he is 74-years-old afterall, but this wasnt the case as he moved around the stage like a man half his age and his voice is as good as it has ever been.

Lively support act Celtic folk and Americana band Johnny Mac and The Faithful - who are well known to the fans of Sir Rod's beloved football team Celtic FC - got the crowd warmed up before it was time for the music legend to take to the stage.

He opened his set with Infatuation, getting the crowd up on their feet and ready for a great night.

His back catalogue is vast and Sheffield was treated to all his hits including Maggie May, The First Cut Is The Deepest and Have I Told You Lately.

There was ample opportunity for audience participation, none more so than when he belted out Sailing.

There was a lovely dedication of ‘Rhythm Of My Heart’ to the 75th anniversary of the Normandy Landings too.

Several outfit changes later, Sir Rod ended his set with Do Ya Think I'm Sexy? a perfect chance for the audience to have one last dance.

As he said goodnight with an encore featuring Baby Jane, fireworks lit up the sky over the Steel City bringing an end to the party.
