Authorities get cash aid

TWO South Yorkshire authorities have received donations from the British Red Cross to help deal with the aftermath of last summer's devastating floods.

Sheffield Council was given 113,310 and Barnsley awarded 57,420 - two grants out of 18 that are being distributed around the country.

The charity's National Floods Appeal raised more than 3.7 millionand last month local authorities in affected areas were invited to apply for a share.
